The investigators from the project team meet with the winegrowers of each local group. Mainly in their vineyards or homes, the winegrowers are individually interviewed and engage in a discussion with the investigator around questions for approximately 2 hours. The investigator takes notes throughout the interview, and the entire session is recorded. During this meeting, the winegrower may also, at their discretion, share documents with the investigator or show observations in their vineyards, for example. Photos may also be taken. Upon returning to the laboratory, these interview sequences and the shared information are analyzed by the project team.
